Module

This blog supports and materialises the development process of a new 12 week Digital Architecture and Fabrication module at the University of Nottingham. It is a common place for students to source information discussed during studio and seminar tutorials. Individual student blogs are linked to this page and together they form a small cohort of designers and researchers investigating architecture through advanced technology.

  2. TRANSITORY EVENT:

Our experience of a place is defined by the constant succession of transitory events, of varying scale and duration, which take place within it.

To be ‘in transit’ is the act of passing through a place, it is an experience of a temporary nature – a nomadic event.

The periods of transition between events are as important as the events themselves, as they link the event past to the event to come.

    TRANSITORY EVENT BUILDING:

A structure that is responsive to the transitory events that occur within it.

The building is a dynamic element within a city network, as it is continually transforming to suit the next event.

With each transformation new connections are made within the network of the city at a local and global scale.
